Building a Legacy: How Sheldon Fingler Built a Legacy Through People, Passion, and Focus

Infinite Event Services is all about bringing Edmontonians together, one event at a time. When you attend a major festival, concert, or corporate gala in Edmonton, chances are you’ve experienced the work of Infinite Event Services.

From tents and tables to full concert sound systems and on-site technicians, Infinite isn’t just in the business of rentals—they’re in the business of creating unforgettable experiences.

We recently sat down with Sheldon, founder of Infinite Event Services, to talk about his journey as an entrepreneur, lessons from navigating growth and setbacks, and what it means to build a legacy business in Edmonton.

Loving Every Part of the Event World

When asked about his favorite type of event, Sheldon didn’t hesitate: outdoor summer festivals.

“We love the outdoor summer festival work—it’s when we get to do everything. Tents, tables, chairs, staging, full sound, technicians all weekend. It’s all-hands-on-deck, and that’s when we thrive.”

Events like Spruce Grove’s Rotary Rib Fest showcase the company’s strength: not just supplying equipment, but managing the full scope of production so communities can gather and celebrate.

The Wake-Up Call: Why Focus Matters for Founders

Like many business owners, Sheldon learned the hard way about the cost of losing focus. A few years back, he was elected to town council in Morinville. While serving the community was rewarding, it pulled him away from what mattered most—clients.

“When I couldn’t return calls or emails quickly, the business slowed down. And because events are booked a year in advance, we didn’t feel it right away—it hit a year later. That was a big awakening about how important it is for me to be present, responsive, and focused on the business.”

Today, he’s intentional about staying close to customers while also delegating key responsibilities. And in a post-COVID world where events are booked weeks in advance (instead of months), that responsiveness has become even more critical.

Building a Legacy Through People

Infinite’s long-term success isn’t just about equipment or logistics—it’s about people. Sheldon has been quietly building his succession plan by empowering his long-time employees and his son, who has grown up in the business.

“It’s about building a legacy—handing over key responsibilities, developing leaders within the company, and ensuring Infinite continues to thrive for years to come.”

This people-first approach has already paid off. A prime example is their exclusive contract with the Royal Glenora Club, a partnership two decades in the making. What began with cold-calling the venue in the early days turned into years of proving value, outlasting countless staff changes, and eventually becoming the trusted exclusive provider for one of Edmonton’s premier venues.

Life Outside the Business

Entrepreneurship can be all-consuming, but Sheldon finds balance in unique ways. One of his favorite hobbies? Metal detecting.

“It’s something my wife and I can do together. She has MS, so we go at a slower pace, and it works perfectly. We’ve found everything from silver rings to coins from the 1700s—it’s a bit of treasure hunting, but mostly it’s time together.”

It’s a reminder that behind every CEO or founder is a whole life outside of work—and sometimes the quirkiest hobbies bring the most joy.
